Hidradenitis Suppurativa

Hidradenitis Suppurativa is a recurrent inflammatory illness that affects the skin within the apocrine glands. It involves painful, inflamed lesions, deep-seated sinus tracts nodules, and abscesses that burst leading to sinus tract formation. The condition is scarring and can lead to psychological distress. Lesions appear in the axillary, inflammatory groin and anogenital areas of the body. This condition occurs mostly in the early 20s, even though the condition has been found in pediatric cases (Smith et al., 2017).

Furunculosis mainly caused by Staphylococcus aureus is an infection of a hair follicle. The condition may continue and form pus and abscess. Usually, it appears as swollen, red nodules that are tender on parts that bear hair within the body. Carbuncle, which is characterized by a big nodule  is created when infections invade adjacent hair follicles. Furunculosis is recurrent, and it commonly spreads among members of a family (Ibler & Kromann, 2014).

Epidermal Inclusion Cysts

Epidermal inclusion cysts are common cutaneous cysts also known as an epidermoid cyst, inclusion cyst, or infundibular cyst. They refer to a benign abrasion that occurs from epidermal cells inclusion, underneath the skin of a patient. The cells can grow, produce, and reproduce keratinous debris, which is likely to create a cyst that contains lamellated keratin; hence, the tumor may develop and create round whitish shape. However, it is not possible to predict whether the cysts will enlarge, remain quiescent or get inflamed. These cysts are more prevalent among men, and they mostly occur in patients between 20 and 40 years (Hillarie & Weir, 2018).

Lymphogranuloma Venereum

Lymphogranuloma Venereum (LGV) is a disease that is transmitted sexually. The condition is caused by L1, L2, and L3 Chlamydia tranchomatis serovars. LGV involves the development of temporary genital papule or ulcers, succeeded by an occurrence of tender inguinal and unilateral femoral lymphadenopathy, which is a component of groove sign that is made by matted swollen lymph nodes that develop along the inguinal ligament. The diagnosis is usually by serologic testing and nucleic acid amplification. LGV leads to infections with possible sequels that are irreversible, strictures and chronic pain if treatment is not done promptly. The main drug of choice for LGV treatment is doxycycline (Cohen & Stoner, 2015).
