Mission, Vision, and Value

Emory Campus Life is a globally acknowledged community serving the purpose of developing education and delivering of first-class services and programs, promoting an environment for the learners characterized by health and sustainability, where learning is at the core. The mission statement is a cultivation of a welcoming and dynamic community with a commitment towards development of skills to succeed in the long run and change the world. The core values are “Courage · Integrity · Accountability · Rigor · Diversity · Team · Community” (Emory University Campus Life, 2017, p. 1, para 5).

There is evidence from the website of the organization of leadership’s commitment to supporting scholarship and advancing professional development through instruction and research (Emory University Campus Life, 2017). Having been founded on a Christian background, the leadership of the organization remains committed to spiritual caring and development of professionals who can advance the caring values. Evidently, the leaders of the organization are committed to supporting the achievement of the mission, vision, and core values.

From the organization’s culture perspective, the organization has a shared belief in human development and commitment of the members of the community towards developing professionals capable of developing the self and the society in general. From the viewpoint of the internal environment (climate), the community is build upon the criticality of providing a high standard of care to all the stakeholders, learners, members of the community, colleagues and the leaders (Olson-Buchanan, Bryan, & Thompson, 2013).

The issues have a huge significance to a nurse leader as they are the indicators of what it means to have an organization committed to professional development and providing a caring environment for the nursing students and other stakeholders (Schuh, 2013). In this case, the nurse leader plays a role in developing a positive culture and the climate of the organization.
